Performance Coaching: Practical Applications for Managers
Research has clearly shown that one-on-one on-the-job training is the most effective form of learning transfer. In recent years, the skill of performance coaching has received growing attention. Performance coaching simply extends the proven effectiveness of on-the-job learning beyond basic job skills to the broader area of overall performance. Effective performance coaching increases work output, improves motivation, strengthens relationships and reduces turnover.
This course provides a solid foundation for effective coaching and enables you to apply performance coaching skills in your day-to-day management role. Your current concept of coaching will be challenged and expanded, and you will find ample opportunity to practise and consolidate new knowledge and skills.
Who Should Attend?
Managers, supervisors and team leaders at all levels who are responsible for improving the current performance of others.
Optimal group size is 6-12 participants (one facilitator) or up to 20 participants (two facilitators).
Workshop Objectives
By attending this highly interactive workshop, participants will:
- Learn the distinction between performance coaching and developmental coaching.
- Explore and understand the roles and goals of the manager as performance coach.
- Explore and incorporate an appropriate set of attitudes and beliefs about performance coaching.
- Learn and practice the core coaching skills of creating the context, contracting, and communicating.
- Learn and apply the performance coaching model in an actual coaching session.
- Explore a variety of coaching questioning techniques and general tips.
- Identify areas of coaching strength as well as areas for development.
